School, work and other activities demand much of a student’s time, making it difficult to connect healthy habits with hectic lifestyles. But even with a busy schedule, there are easy ways to have a healthy life.
One way to stay healthy is by doing daily physical activity, which local fitness professionals say is very beneficial to people of all ages.
“Anyone can benefit from 30 minutes of exercise or other activity,” said Lorraine Galloway, a certified aerobics instructor at the Rexburg World Gym.
She suggests taking the stairs instead of the elevator or walking to work or school rather than driving a car, if students don’t have time for a regular exercise routine.
“At least go out for a walk [and] walk as much as you can,” said Nancy Miekle, co-owner of Rexburg’s Curves, a fitness facility for women.
Some students say they are too busy to exercise, but with time management, exercise can fit into a hectic lifestyle.
“People need to realize that half an hour [of exercise] at least three times a week will help. Busy students just need to learn time management. You just have to find time to do it,” said Travis Roberts, a World Gym personal trainer.
Kelly Evens, a professor in the Health Science Department tells students that they have to schedule time for sleeping, eating and studying, along with about 30 minutes of exercising.
“Don’t be too busy to take time for yourself,” Galloway said.
