Diversity?
In a rural town like Rexburg, some students may feel isolated from the outside world.
But in a town with an estimated population of 24,000, including the students at BYU‑Idaho, there may be more diversity in food than commonly expected.

For Latin Americans, food is more than sustenance; it represents a lifesyle
[Food] is a very important part of our culture. Latinos love to be around those they love and enjoy a good meal together,
said Carmelo Diaz-Tamara, a sophomore from Rivera, Uruguay. There’s nothing like the taste of some good homemade Latin food.

Many students may enjoy going out to eat Italian food or even making it at home, but the food made by American students may not be authentic Italian cuisine.

Students find ways to eat while saving time and money
Dollar pizzas, hot pockets, cereal, bread, peanut butter, jam, spaghetti noodles (and sauce) and the good old college staple: Top Ramen. Sound like a familiar list?
Many students buy the same simple meals week after week, finding it difficult to budget both their health and their pocketbooks.

Students who have experienced the Far East find a new love
In a university where many know Chinese food only as sweet and sour pork, a few students have visited China and know the authentic way to eat Chinese food. Although these students visited China for different reasons, all agreed on one thing: the food was fantastic.

Korean students find different and authentic ways to eat
Imagine instead of having bread or potatoes with the meals you make, having spicy pickled vegetables instead. There are specific foods in Korea the people try to make every time they sit down to eat a meal.
