Oooooo, the cold and dreary Rexburg night of Halloween is approaching soon, you may not be a kid anymore but you can still go out with a costume.
Some students at BYU-I begin preparation for Halloween weeks in advance. Others wait until a few days before or even the day of to get their costume ready. If a lack of money is the reason for not getting a costume yet, here are some tips for making it work.
With a little imagination and creativity, Deseret Industries just might have all or at least part of the costume you are looking for.
“Last year for Halloween I dressed up as an apple tree. I used a combination of clothes from DI and my own,” said Charlene Cummings, a junior from Blackfoot, Idaho. Cummings found a green sweater and a pair of long brown pants. Then, using paper clips, she hung real apples onto the sweater.
“I save money by using my own clothes as a start and then I go somewhere cheap like a thrift store for the rest,” said Bethany Smith, a sophomore from Gilbert, Ariz. Students with a tight budget can still put together creative costumes if they just get creative, Smith said.
One might wonder why any college student in their right mind would ever dress up for Halloween anyway.
“Halloween is a change for people to do something new and unique without feeling like an idiot,” said Asian Brian, lead guitarist for the Party Pandas from Hong Kong and BYU-I almunus.
