Imagine a day when you can be virtually anywhere on campus and pick up a perfect wireless signal. That day is here — well, almost.
The purpose of the BYU-Idaho wireless network is to “set forth the policy for achieving security, avoiding interference, maintaining a level of quality and defining responsibilities and support,” according to the BYU-I Wireless Network Policy.
Currently, BYU-I has various access points for BYUI-WIFI around campus that are distinguished by black, white and green posters that say “Wireless Zone.”
Many students have already used BYUI-WIFI but still want more access in more locations.
“I like the wireless on campus; however, I’d like to have it in the classroom. Although some students would abuse the privilege of having wireless in class, I still think it is necessary,” said Terese Nokleby, a sophomore studying exercise science.
Although students can only access BYUI-WIFI at certain access points, the administration is working on expanding the WIFI to reach most, if not all, parts of the buildings.
They are working on one building at a time, and will eventually improve the wireless in most of the buildings.
