SIFE branches out in USA

With the credit for starting 70 percent of all new jobs around the country, new entrepreneurs have influenced the American economy in a big way, according to www.entrepreneursweekusa.com. That is why Feb. 24 to March 3 will be the first annual EntrepreneurshipWeek USA.

The BYU‑Idaho SIFE team has joined as an official program partner.

The intention behind it is to get the spirit of entrepreneurship conveyed throughout the country, said Mark Nygren, the SIFE team supervisor and a professor in the Business Management Department.

The SIFE team will participate in the innovation challenge, a competition set up by EntrepreneurshipWeek USA. Each team will be sent specific materials and encouraged to add value to their community by using them.

It will probably be a product, a service, something–that is the mystery I guess. We are not sure what it will be, Nygren said.

Applicants are judged through the required three-minute video demonstrating what they have accomplished. More information on how to get involved and the location of local events can be found at entrepreneursweekusa.com.

According to the Web site, EntrepreneurshipWeek USA is designed to encourage citizens around the country to build on their ideas and put them into action.

Other partners, such as the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce and more than 700 other partners nationwide, will host events and activities throughout the week to encourage entrepreneurship. □
