Testing Center posts hours for finals week

The Testing Center will be changing the hours for finals week, starting on Monday, Dec. 18. The Testing Center will open at 7 a.m. and will close at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, the testing center will open at 7 a.m. and will close at 10 p.m. as well. Wednesday, Dec. 20, it will open at 7 a.m. and close to 6 p.m. The last test will be given one hour before closing each day.

Students will need to follow the testing times in the finals test week schedule found on the Testing Center Web site.

The Testing Center will have a priority line for students taking tests during their scheduled time. All other students who want to test will be in the standby line.

Celebration of books to be held at library

The David O. McKay Library will host the “Bookers Dozen” Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. Scott Samuelson of the English Department faculty will speak on book making, after which there will be a book display.

One of the books on display is “Stone Flight,” written by Samuelson. After Dec. 6, the exhibit can be found in the McKay Gallery until Dec. 29, during library hours.

The library is also featuring Key Business Ratios as the library database of the week. The database assesses a firm’s strengths and weaknesses as compared to those of competing businesses or an entire industry.

The database can be found online at www.lib.byui.edu. Click on “Site Index A-Z,” then choose K and click on “Key Business Ratios.”

Teacher evaluations to be conducted online

Teacher evaluations will be conducted online this semester, instead of in class. According to an email sent by Scott Bergstrom, Director of Institutional Research and Assessment, one or more of each students’ instructors will be evaluated this semester.

A link sent through Bergstrom’s email will take students to the website where the evaluation can be completed. After logging in with their student ID and password, students will be presented with a course or list of courses.

The evaluation will only take a couple of minutes, according to Bergstrom’s email, and the responses will be completely anonymous.

Results from the student evaluations will not be given to teachers until after this semester ends.

“They are invaluable to me as I plan for next semester. ,” said Melanie Landon-Hays, of the Teacher Education dept. “I’m always looking for ways to improve.”
