BYU Law professor to speak at forum

Larry EchoHawk, a professor of law at BYU, will speak at a BYU-Idaho forum on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Chapel with a question-and-answer session to follow at 3 p.m.

EchoHawk’s forum is titled, “Preserving the Promise of America for Future Generations.” He will explore the shared responsibility to help ensure all people experience the American dream of a happy and prosperous life. Specifically, EchoHawk will address what Americans should be doing to combat the vexing problems facing families, youth and children, according to www.byui.edu.

EchoHawk began his legal career as an attorney for impoverished Native Americans in California and then opened a private law office in Salt Lake City.

He was the tribal attorney for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes at the Fort Hall Indian Reservation in Idaho for more than eight years. He also served as the Attorney General for the State of Idaho.

English Department hosts conference

The English Department is hosting a pre-professional conference in the Gordon B. Hinckley Building on Nov. 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The conference begins with keynote s;eaker, Carol Martin, director of the English Master of Arts program at Boise State University.

Several panel discussions will follow, focusing on career and graduate school options for English majors. Special guests and BYU-Idaho professors are the speakers selected for these panels.

The last even will be student presentations, where selected students read pieces of their work, is the last event.

Graduate School Fair coming to campus

Internship & Career Placement and Career & Academic Advising offices are holding a graduate school fair and forum on Nov. 15.

The Graduate Fair allows students to meet with various graduate school representatives in the Manwaring Cener Ballrooms from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Fair also includes seminars on choosing a graduate school, introducing standardized tests and preparing a resume and cover letter. It is designed to help students feel comforable with their interviewing skills.

These seminars are located in the MC at the top of each hour from 10 to 2 p.m.

President Clark will be the forum speaker in the Hinckley chapel from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
