Take a break, ladies, and enjoy Time Out for Women, out on DVD for the first time.
“This DVD is a compilation of beloved LDS authors and music artists such as Jane Clayson Johnson, Michael McLean, Sheri Dew and Hilary Weeks, sharing their uplifting messages,” said Public Relations Specialist Chelsea Belton.
Jane Clayson Johnson, former ABC News broadcaster and the forum speaker on Communication Day on Oct. 19, said in her talk on the DVD, “Motherhood is a noble calling, and we’ve got to start uplifting and respecting it in our culture, in our society, and most importantly, in ourselves.”
Sharon Larsen, who served on the Young Women general board of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as second counselor in the Young Women General Presidency, speaks about when hard times come. Her words, “I ain’t down, I ain’t down, and even if I was, you’d sure never hear it from me,” get a reaction out of the audience as they repeat these words together.
Richard Holzpfel, a popular speaker and an award-winning author, talks of seeing the world through others’ eyes and not just his own.
Chris Stewart, a popular LDS author, speaks of how God will warn his people of danger if they will just listen, while Mary Ellen Edmunds, another LDS author, talks of “doing the best that you can.” Robert Millet, LDS author of Men of Valor and other books, encourages women in “heading in the right direction.”
Sheri Dew, new president and CEO of Deseret Book Company, ends the DVD by saying that people need to back up and say, “Wait a minute. I think that I have started listening more to the world than to the Lord.”
In between all of these performers, Michael McLean, Cherie Call and Hilary Weeks impress on the audience their messages with their music. Hilary Weeks said in the DVD, “I love being part of the music for Time Out for Women.”
Mclean sings a song that silences the audience with the words, “You’re one of the ninety and nine. Have you any idea how brightly you shine? You are safe in this fold, and its time you were told, ‘cause I know where you’ve been, so I know where you’ll be. ‘Cause all of your life you’ve been following me. You are more then just one of the sands of the sea. You aren’t just one of the ninety in nine. You are mine.”
