Warped Tour:

coming soon to SLC

48 rock bands will take the stage at the Utah State Fair Park in Salt Lake City on Saturday, July 7 for one of the largest concerts of the year.

Since 2005, the Vans Warped Tour, a traveling festival of music and extreme sports, has brought hundreds of touring bands to locales across the United States.

The Vans Warped Tour will be making 45 stops this year, starting in Pomona, Calif., circling the continental U.S. over the course of two-and-a-half months, and returning to Los Angeles for its final show.

Attractions include bands playing simultaneously on up to ten stages, professional skateboarders and BMX bikers performing on vert-pipes. There will also be dozens of tents with band merchandise, clothing, stickers, CDs and other souvenirs.

Among the bands that will be playing in Salt Lake are Utah locals, Meg & Dia, whose band was signed by Doghouse Records in 2006.

“It’s crazy to think that last year we played the MySpace booth and had to help build our stage every morning, and this year we’re playing on the Hurley.com stage!” according to the band on its official Web site, www.meganddia.com.

Other featured bands include Anberlin, Amber Pacific, Boys Like Girls, Cute Is What We Aim For, Coheed and Cambria, Paramore, Play Radio Play, The Used, Yellowcard and The Matches.

While many recently-discovered bands are playing, a few older artists are returning to the tour, such as Pennywise, Bad Religion and New Found Glory.

For those who will not be to the Salt Lake show, there are other ways for fans to still see their favorite artists.

“For those of you who can’t wait for the tour to come to you, check out Warped Wednesday on Fuse TV,” according to www.warpedtour.com.

The weekly show airs at 6 p.m. pacific time and features interviews with artists, as well as live videos of some of the tour.

Warped Tour will also be making a stop in Boise on August 17. □
