Traveling thousands of miles from their home in London, the world-famous quartet, Cantabile, will be stopping for two nights in Rexburg as they make their way to Washington and British Columbia.

They will be performing at BYU-Idaho on January 24 and 25 at 7:30 in the Barrus Concert Hall.

Featuring Richard Bryan as counter tenor, Mark Fleming and Robin Green as tenors and Michael Steffan as baritone, Cantabile has been called simply one of the world’s top vocal groups according to their official website, www.cantabile.com.

Cantabile is an Italian word meaning in singing style. The group specializes in a capella classics as well as comedy.

They are true entertainers who make their music very easy to listen to, and also inject a bit of British humor into the mix, said Don Sparhawk, coordinator of the Center Stage Performing Arts Series at BYU-Idaho. They were chosen because they present classical vocal music in a very appealing format.

The group has performed in London’s West End, on the Royal Yacht Britannia, with the BBC Big Band, in the Covent Garden Festival and in front of 40,000 people at the Proms in the Park, one of the United Kingdom’s largest musical events. For the last 18 years Cantabile has released 10 solo albums and performed more than a thousand concerts. They have also made more than 200 television appearances worldwide.

Center Stage has been working to attract diverse performing arts acts to BYU‑I, and Cantabile is one of many to come to Rexburg this year.

Performers are usually extremely impressed by the reception they receive here. They have never seen anything quite like our students. They are generally amazed at the turnout by university students. Sparhawk said. This semester we have a new-age pianist, comedian / magician, barbershop, organist, contemporary dance group, classical music, sacred music, jazz and Irish music.

Cantible is one of several groups to come to BYU-Idaho this semester through Center Stage. Tickets are on sale at the Ticket Office now for $5. □
