“The Bachelor of Fine Arts Art show is a senior project for the Bachelor of Fine Arts majors. Students are self-guided and directed to create a project of their choice to be put on display at the end of two semesters,” said Karen Bell, a senior from Indianapolis, Ind. There is a variety of themes that will be displayed at this BFA Art Show. Jessica Hollaway, a senior from Sante Fe, N.M., has titled her display “Faces of Dance”. “I have been dancing on and off since I was a little girl,” Hollaway said. “Dance is a part of me and my family, and I’m trying to portray that.” Other themes include “Sea Life” by Karen Bell, featuring radiographs using x-ray photography. “I was fortunate to have lots of help from people in the medical field and also people very close to me help me with things. This was something Heavenly Father directed me to do or I don’t think I would have fallen upon it,” Bell said. Emily Skinner, a senior from Bedford, Wyo., will be displaying panoramic photos featuring outdoor landscape and scenery. It’s rewarding to have something to display that people come to see,” Skinner said. Shalese Murray, a senior from Shelley, Idaho, will be displaying “Inhabited,” featuring ghost towns and homesteads. “It’s really exciting to create and display a huge body of work,” Murray said. Delwin Davenport, a senior from Rexburg and a Graphic design major, will be featuring “Experimenting with Type,” based on event posters of 10 major cities across the United States. “I didn’t have a lot of experience or work in my portfolio using expressive typography, so I used that as my theme,” Davenport said. Other graphic design students works featured in the BFA Art Show include Pauline Grayson, Benjamin Rakozy and Cassidy Whitworth, all graphic design students at BYU-I. “I think it’s going to be nerve racking on Thursday night to see your work in a gallery but very exciting,” Hollaway said. |
