Scheming, trickery and love octagons.

If these three things interest students, then William Shakespeare’s modified play, Much To Do About Nothing, is a play students might enjoy.

Megan Miller, a junior from Burley, Idaho, recently rewrote and modified the script of William Shakespeare’s play, Much Ado About Nothing.

“We took the basic concept and idea of Shakespeare and rewrote and modified it for BYU-Idaho,” said Robert Freeborn, a sophomore from Arlington, Texas, who helped Miller with the editing the script.

The idea to rewrite the script came to Miller about a year ago. She created a bulletin for students to write scripts of plays to be performed. At first there was no real response. The idea for a student-written script was forgotten until later this year. Miller was performing in The 9th Muse when she and some friends decided it was time for a student-written play to be performed.

“I thought it would be funny to do a BYU-I version with the same ideas the play has,” Miller said.

In the play a group of friends make each other think they are all in love with one another through trickery and deceit.

“The story is just a big love octagon full of trying and scheming,” Miller said. “It fits so well here at BYU-I because everyone is all about relationships.”

The play will be at the Kirkham Auditorium Nov. 15 - 17 at 7:30 p.m.
