Summer Center Stage schedule available
BYU-Idaho will present a variety of performing arts events during the summer semester that starts in May.

The Center Stage Performing Arts Series will feature a number of professional performers, including pianist Jim Brickman, Italian tenor Fabio Andreotti, a country music tribute to the Latter-day Saint prophet Joseph Smith, a U.S. Air Force Band and the 1964 Beatles’ tribute.

The BYU-I Theater Department will present two shows this summer, The Importance of Being Earnest and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.

The Music Department will present a variety of student concerts, including free performances of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance in August and several organ recitals.


Cellist Emily Nelson to perform in Idaho Falls
Emily Nelson will perform Stravinsky: Symphonies of Wind Instruments May 13, in the Civic Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

At age 18, Emily has studied cello since age 5. She was the finalist in the Young Artist Competitions in Coeur d’Alene Symphony.

When Emily was not plucking strings, she plucked ground balls from the dirt as a shortstop for the Moscow High School fast pitch softball team.

Emily took her glove, her bat, her bow and cello off to college where she is studying music, economics and opposing pitchers.

BYU-I welcomes BYU Dancers’ Company
The Dancers’ Company from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, will perform at BYU-Idaho Friday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirkham Auditorium as part of the Center Stage Performing Arts Series.

The company is one of the most widely toured university-based contemporary dance companies in the U.S. The company covers a broad spectrum of innovative styles, including dramatic, jazz, humorous numbers and lyrical choreography.

Tickets are $8 for the general public and $4 for BYU-Idaho students. They are available online at www.byui.edu/tickets.

Since its creation in 1974, the company has performed in Argentina, Chile, Japan, the Philippines, Korea, Turkey, Israel, South Africa and Australia.
