RecSports has created a new league for married students that will begin second block this semester to better accommodate the changing student body, said C.J. Rinke, student director of RecSports and senior from Rexburg.
The married league will include ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, softball and dodgeball.
“We hope to have a total of 40-50 teams participate,” Rinke said.
Over the last few years, student demographics have changed. The married student population has increased significantly and continues to grow. Rinke feels that the new league, which has been suggested by students in the past, will help the RecSports program better serve married students who want to participate in sports with their spouses.
The league will work the same as the co-ed league, the only difference being the rings on the fingers.
Couples interested in creating a team can go to the RecSports page of the school Web site and click on the online rosters, then simply select which sport they want to play.
Captains’ meetings were held March 9, and the games will begin on March 14.
