A Colorado high school teacher was suspended after allegedly making comparisons of George W. Bush’s State of the Union address to speeches given by Adolph Hitler.

Jay Bennish, a geography teacher at Overland High School in Aurora, Colo., was caught making the comparisons on tape by Sean Allen, who claims he made the tape for study purposes. But this is not the first time Allen and Bennish have quarreled over remarks made in class.

Allen said he had reported Bennish to school officials for his politicking, and since then the teacher had tried to physically intimidate him.

“Overall, he was a pretty intimidating teacher to confront, just with his body language and the things he said and how he said them,” Allen said.

Bennish’s lawyer David Lane, who also represented controversial University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill, said Bennish has decided not to file a lawsuit against the Cherry Creek School District. The news came after the district said it would release a gag order against Bennish, prohibiting him from speaking to the media about the case.
