A suspect was arrested Feb. 13 for grand theft from Rexburg Motor Sports.

Brianna Nicole Deihl, a 21-year-old resident of Medford, Ore., and former BYU-Idaho student, is in custody with bond set at $50,000, said Rexburg City Police.

Deihl allegedly used a company credit card and one of the owner’s credit cards for personal use while she was employed at Rexburg Motor Sports, located on University Boulevard just west of Yellowstone Highway.

Deihl was attending classes at BYU-I without being enrolled in school. According to classmates, she stopped attending class for awhile, but no one suspected any suspicious behavior.

“Bri doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who steals ... so when I heard about this, I was really surprised,” said John Walker, a senior from Medford, Ore., and friend of Deihl.

Several thousand dollars were involved in the misappropriation and is still under investigation.

Deihl is awaiting a preliminary hearing, which has to be held within 21 days of arrest.

Rexburg Motor Sports also had a 2002 Ski-Doo snow machine stolen Feb. 16.

There are still no suspects in connection with this theft, Rexburg City Police said.

Rexburg Motor Sports has had many items stolen from its old location on Main Street. These thefts included a Polaris All-Terrain-Vehicle in January 2003 and again in February 2005 when five dirt bikes where stolen from the same location.
