| France is getting fatter, according to a recent Parisian study. Since 1970, when the last major measurement campaign was done, French women on average have gained an entire dress size.
The study included 12,000 participants and measured the average height and weight of both men and women.
The average French woman is 5-foot-3-inches tall, with an average weight of 138 pounds: that’s a 4 1/2 pound increase.
French men gained 1 1/2 inches and 12 pounds from the 1970 study. The average French man is 5-foot-7 1/2 inches and weighs in at 171 pounds.
The project managers estimated that by the year 2020, the French will be just as large as Americans.
