Celebrate all the love

Loving Love

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. Lots of people don’t like it much, but I think it’s great.

Many of my friends growing up refer to it as Single Awareness Day. Apparently, Valentine’s Day is just a day to remind people they are sad and alone.

In reality, I don’t think any of us are sad and alone. Well, maybe sad, but defiantly not alone.

With six billion people in the world there is no way anyone is alone. You just have to find at least one person you care about, not love or want to spend the rest of your life with, but just someone you care about. Celebrate that.

I love my parents; I love my brothers and sisters; I love my roommates. I’m going to celebrate that.

When I was little, my mom and dad used to give us presents on Valentine’s Day. I remember one year they gave us Squeeze-Its. It was quite the treat at my house.

At that time in my life I was too little to have a boyfriend, so the love I celebrated was the love I had for my parents. Through my life that is what I continue to celebrate.

I know I have been blessed to have people in my life care about me. I even understand that society has commercialized Valentine’s Day. But, that’s not a reason anyone shouldn’t celebrate and give thanks to the people in their life.

You don’t have to have a “special someone” to have a great Valentine’s Day. Just serve and enjoy all the people you love.
