President Gordon B. Hinckley continues to recover from surgery
President Gordon B. Hinckley continues to recover on schedule, and doctors are pleased with his progress since his surgery on Jan. 24. President Hinckley was admitted to the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City on Tuesday to remove a cancerous growth on his large intestine. The next day he rested comfortably.

Medical doctors found the growth during a routine medical screening. The diseased portion of the intestine was removed through a laparoscopic procedure. A laparoscope is an instrument inserted through an incision in the abdominal wall.

While President Hinckley recovers, his counselors, President Thomas S. Monson and President James E. Faust, will handle his work, as is routine.
