The sound of cheers will be heard Dec. 16 as graduates walk across the stage at graduation.

To prepare for that, seniors attended Grad Night Dec. 1.

Grad Night was a night for graduates to get together, reflect on their experiences at BYU-Idaho and listen to their leaders speak.

Jim Gee, the student life vice president at BYU-I, was the first to speak. “I love you for what you are,” Gee said to graduates. He said BYU-I will be judged by what the graduates do.

A movie was shown that included talks from Elder Henry B. Eyring and President Gordon B. Hinckley.

Students were asked to respond to what they had seen. This gave them the chance to say what they were feeling as they watched.

For some, the movie was a reminder of what is expected of them as graduates of BYU-I.

“I hadn’t seen the talk from President Hinckley in a while and it was a reminder of how we should live our lives and how we should stand as a witness when we graduate,” said Jenny Whetten, a graduating senior from The Colony, Texas.

Sister Sue Clark bore her testimony to the graduates. She told the students to “keep the Lord on [their] side.”

When President Kim B. Clark addressed the students, he told them to take the Spirit of Ricks with them and let it shine in them.

He told them that they would bring light into the world. “The light of the Savior will shine in your eyes,” he said.
