The gold division Lady Spartans beat the Lady Vikings in the womens’ volleyball championships, Nov. 18.

The match went four games long, resulting in a good show for the spectators.

“I felt like they played with their hearts. My stomach was in knots the whole game,” said Spartans coach Linda Weger, a junior from Mcallen, Texas.

The Vikings won the first game, yet the Spartans came back to win the next three.

“The game was intense. It was an incredible championship game. Both teams played really well,” said Spartans player Randi Blake, a junior from Shelley, Idaho.

The Vikings came into the season with a better record than the Spartans, but they were not able to finish victorious.

“We’ve had better games, but overall I think we did pretty well,” said Vikings player Rachel Jaynes, a freshman from Filer, Idaho.

In the blue division, the Lady Vikings mixed things up a bit by winning their game against the blue Lady Spartans.

The Lady Spartans won their first game then lost the second and third games. The fourth and fifth games finally declared the Lady Vikings champions.

“I think we played a great game. It was tough because both our teams were about the same level,” said Spartans player Janalee Allred, a freshman from Sandy, Utah.
