Kids’ counsel on love and marriage

Is it better to be single or married?

“It’s better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need somebody to clean up after them.” (Lynette, 9)

What do most people do on a date?

“On the first date, they just tell each other lies, and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.” (Mike, 9)

Why does love happen between two particular people?

“No one is sure why it happens, but I heard it has something to do with how you smell. That’s why perfume and deodorant are so popular.” (Jan, 9)

On the personal qualities necessary to be a good spouse:

“One of you should know how to write a check. Because even if you have tons of love, there is still going to be a lot of bills.” (Ava, 8)

On the role of good looks in love:

“If you want to be loved by somebody who isn’t already in your family, it doesn’t hurt to be beautiful.” (Jeanne, 8)

What is falling in love like?

“Like an avalanche where you have to run for your life.” (Roger, 9)

What is the proper age
to get married?

“Eighty-four, because at that age, you don’t have to work anymore, and you can spend all your time loving each other in your bedroom.” (Judy, 8)

When is it OK
to kiss someone?

“You should never kiss a girl unless you have enough bucks to buy her a big ring and her own VCR, cause she’ll want to have videos of the wedding.” (Jim, 10)

The incredible announcement guide 2005
Scroll Staff
Wedding announcement formats have become less structured and more contemporary in the past few years. But knowing what to say and how to say it can be stressful. Here are a few guidelines to help you get started.

Enclosure cards
These cards may contain additional information regarding directions to the reception or invitations to the temple ceremony. They should be printed on the same paper stock as the invitation but be smaller in size.

Ceremony invitations
For the actual temple ceremony, it is important to remember that space is limited. The sealing rooms in the temple normally provide accommodation for about 50 people. One simple way to let family and friends know they are invited to the ceremony is to enclose a ceremony invitation card.

Reception invitations
These should be sent to anyone you want to attend the reception. If you plan to have more than one reception, you can format the information in two columns at the bottom. If you are not sending a response set with the invitation, R.S.V.P can be printed in one of the corners.

Response sets
The response set is used for R.S.V.P.s. It includes a response card and a stamped envelope printed with a name and address for the return of the response.

Meal invitations
If you are planning to have a nice meal separate from the reception with select guests, you will probably want to include another enclosure card in your invitation. If the meal is immediately following the temple ceremony this information can be included on the ceremony card.
