Tired of your parents getting your grades? Married students and students who are 21 are almost always discontinued from having their grades mailed to their parents, according to the Registrar’s Office, but they need to make sure they’ve filled out an Affidavit of Proof form.
This form can be found in the BYU-Idaho catalog and the Registrar’s Office Web site. The form says that the individual “is no longer claimed as a dependent by my parents or legal guardian for income tax purposes.”
Parents obtain their students grades students if the student is claimed as a dependent on the most recently submitted Federal Income Tax form and if they fill out a Certificate of Dependency Form through BYU-I.
If a student wants their parents or guardian to stay informed of their GPA, even if a student is legally independent of a parent or guardian, they can complete a Waiver of Independency Form.
