Recently, in the name of investigative reporting, I was lucky enough to go to Sage Day Spa for a 30-minute massage and mini-pedicure.

As I sat in my enveloping robe and jelly slippers, drinking herbal tea and eating expensive chocolates, I thought how others could benefit. I thought about some of my girlfriends as expectant mothers and thought how the mother-to-be massage could take a load off of them.

My boyfriend pointed out the manly treatments that had peaked his interest, like the men’s facial fitness, foot fitness and hand treatment. I thought that this must be the only place in Rexburg with the four-star services that are regularly found in big cities.

As I talked with Kris Mayberry, the manager and owner, she told me how she decided to open her small venture after getting tired of traveling down to Utah every time she wanted a spa day. She decided it was time to make a spa available closer to home.

Now she has brought a new service to Rexburg with some of the most elite treatments around. The breadth of services provided, the student discount, monthly specials and gift certificates impressed me.

It was an incredible mix of ambience, fashionable décor and treatments to die for. Yet beyond massages and pedicures there was something exceptional about the spa that transcended the ambience and fragrances. It was the outstanding service that the staff truly cared and not just as part of a job description. They received me with warmth and laughter and assured my comfort and ease.

It may be the intrigue of unique services that brings customers in, the ambience is impressive. But it will be the people at Sage Day Spa that will make you come back to become a devoted customer.
