The BYU-Idaho campus has plenty of choices to cure that hunger or sweet tooth. Find what your heart desires, and you can probably find it steps away from one of your classes.
Located in the Manwaring Center, the Galley offers a wide variety of food. There is a different daily special to satisfy almost any craving.
“When college students do not feel like cooking, the Galley offers good food and company,” said Traci Menke, a freshman from Riverside, Calif.
If your stomach is growling and you feel like you could eat everything in the state of Texas, the Galley is the place for you. A buffet style meal, including a drink, costs about $7. The Galley is open in two, three hour increments for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the exception of Sunday, when the hours are 4-6 p.m.
If variety is the spice of life, the Nordic adds that spice to your life. The Nordic Landing is a mall food court, but Polly Pocket size. They offer Block and Barrell (a sandwich station), The China Bowl and Casa Solana.
Gavin McLaughlin, a freshman from Wenatchee, Wash., likes the Nordic because the customer service is personal.
No single item costs more than $5, so even students on a budget can eat. Not in the mood for American food? The China Bowl offers an array of different bowl combinations. The most expensive entrée is $4.65. Is Mexican food your fancy? Casa Solana offers everything from taco salad to enchiladas ranging from $1.09 to $3.49. The Nordic truly is a one-stop shop.
Did your alarm go off and you hit snooze? Jolynn’s is your best friend in the Manwaring Center. A quick way to get breakfast, Jolynn’s options range from donuts to non-dairy smoothies. (catering to the junk food junkie and health nut). Jolynn’s will also keep some cash in your pocket because the highest price is $4.29.
Tomassito’s is a Rexburg Italian Café nestled in the MC. The pizza is self serve, with a slice of pizza and drink costing only $2.49.
Collen Coleman, a freshman from Peyton, Colo., said the pizza reminds her of her mom’s homemade pizza.
Tomassito’s menu includes sandwiches, a pasta bar and the famous square ice cream scoops. When an ice cream craving hits or your stomach growls for mom’s homemade pizza try Tomassitos.
Located on the third floor of the John L. Clark Building, Café Dejeuner offers gourmet food on a budget. Café Dejeuner is run by the students in the Culinary Arts program at BYU-I. Gourmet meals run at about $8.
These meals include more expensive ingredients, such as duck, and offer different options for dessert, including gourmet cheesecake.
The BYU-I campus offers an array of food choices from a home-style buffet to a convenient breakfast stop.
So while running from class to class, Campus Food Services will strike any fancy.
