Films entered in the second annual BYU-Idaho film festival were viewed and judged by the audience on the evening of Saturday Sept. 24. Participants were given 24 hours to write, film and edit a movie.

Participants were informed at the beginning of the 24 hours that the film had to contain a pop can, lamp or purse to ensure that it was created within the required time.

Seven films were entered, and the winning film was titled “Colors of BYU-Idaho,” by Jonny Lekrib, a freshman from Salem, Ore., and Andy Thompson, a sophomore from Detroit, Mich.

“It was really stressful trying to get it done in 24 hours, especially since we started late and only had eight hours to complete the film,” Lekrib said. We were going to give up a few times, but we decided to go through with it, and I’m really glad we did.”

Films were due Sept. 17 to be reviewed.

Other films entered were “The Drifter,” “The Corndog,” “Flip Flop,” “There Goes My Gun” and “Shady Dreamin’ Fool.”

There is an upcoming screen-writing contest, and the Student Filmmakers meet Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in room 375 of the Hyrum Manwaring Student Center.
