Fall movie lineup looks promising

Movie lovers unite! Whether it is supernatural, drama or action-packed entertainment, this fall’s big screen lineup has something for everyone.

Opening on Sept. 30, Walt Disney Studios that brought us Remember the Titans, The Rookie and Miracle will release its next film The Greatest Game Ever Played (PG).

The motion picture is based on a true story and follows the tale of amateur golfer, Francis Ouimet, who must overcome social and family pressures to reach his dreams, according to www.fandango.com.

Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones join forces again on Oct. 28 in The Legend of Zorro (PG), sequel to the 1998 blockbuster The Mask of Zorro.

 Directed again by Martin Campbell, this motion picture is sure to be full of sword-fighting action. According to www.imdb.com, Alejandro de la Vega attempts to keep his “swashbuckling ways” to a minimum, but cannot avoid destiny when new threats arise.

On Nov. 18, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (PG-13) finally arrives in theatres, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. In the film Harry faces new dangers when selected to participate in the Triwizard Tournament. Mike Newell directs this fourth, highly anticipated Harry Potter movie.

“I just want to see what they do with it,” says Mariah George, a freshman from Wyoming.  “It will be neat to see when [Harry Potter] fights the dragon and the [creatures] in the maze.”

For all the C.S. Lewis fans, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe will be released Dec. 9 and is not yet rated.

Directed by Andrew Adamson, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe follows the journey of four children who travel through a wardrobe to the land of Narnia and help its lion ruler defeat an evil witch, according to www.imdb.com.

On Dec. 14, the latest remake of King Kong (PG) crashes into theatres.  Produced by Universal Studios and directed by Peter Jackson, the film stars Naomi Watts and Jack Black.

Other new movies that may be worth checking out are Flight Plan (PG-13), starring Jodie Foster; The Work and the Glory: American Zion (second in the series, rated PG); or the remake of Pride and Prejudice (PG), starring Kiera Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen.
