Being a young single adult, we are told to date so we can find our eternal companion. Many young students come to BYU-Idaho just to do that.
BYU-I provides many activities to get students in the dating world. With a little ingenuity dating activities for students on a budget are endless.
“Creativity is always good; it just depends on what you like to do,” said Julie Neish, a junior from Apex, N.C.
Coming up with ideas on the spot can be hard, but planning ahead can generate good ideas.
Horseback riding is an activity that can help daters get to know each other. Taking a stroll with the horses in the morning sun can set the mood for talking. The best way to get to know someone is to talk with them.
If you really like music, try a concert. This may not be a good place to talk, but it can be a place to dance and enjoy one another’s company.
Dancing can also be a good way to meet people. Every Wednesday night there is swing, country, or Latin dancing in the Manwaring Center.
“Group dates are always more fun than single dates,” said Kristi Meaders, a junior from North Ogden, Utah.
If sports are your thing, you can always take a date to the Hart Auditorium. Activities include volleyball, racquetball and basketball. The fields south of campus are great for baseball, softball and football. A walk or a hike can count as a date. Take some water, a lunch and have a picnic in the mountains.
Another way to get to know someone is to go for a bike ride or roller blading.
The school also offers a variety of activities. Log on to www.activities.byui.edu for a list of school sponsored activities. They are separated into different sections to make finding what you like to do even easier.
Going to places not related to school can be adventurous. The sand dunes are a great place to play games, hang out or build a bon fire.
