Imagine yourself outside in January, surrounded by snow and ice, wearing just a swimsuit and feeling quite comfortable. That’s the experience that awaits you at Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.

Located about thirty miles southeast of Pocatello, Idaho, this resort features outdoor hot pools that are fed by naturally heated mineral water.

Visitors can soak in four large pools, with three different water temperatures.

During the winter months, the pools are often surrounded by snow while bathers revel in the misty warmth of the odor-free water.

The resort includes an Olympic-size swimming pool, complete with diving boards, a ten-meter diving platform and water slides. The pool is open between May and Labor Day.

Weekend admission for the pool is $6.50, and admission for the hot springs, which are open all year, is $5.50.

The town of Lava Hot Springs surrounds the hot springs and offers lodging, food and other recreation opportunities, including a nine-hole golf course.
