Soon, BYU-I students will be able to see exactly what Ryan Shupe of Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand is talking about, when the group performs Friday in the Hart Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.. The band's five members, Roger Archibald, Colin Botts, Craig Miner, Bart Olson, and Ryan Shupe, create a "breathtaking blast of manic musical virtuosity," according to their biography.
"I decided that I was going to make a band that didn't break up," Shupe said. The idea was that the band would be elastic, and Shupe brought in players when he needed them. Thus, the RubberBand began.
Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand currently have a hit single, "dream big," which has held the number two position on Billboard's Hot Country Singles Sales Chart since its release June 7. The song is also being used to promote an upcoming NBC show, Three Wishes, in which deserving individuals are granted special wishes.
“From the initial release of this single, there was an enormous reaction from listeners of all generations and walks of life. Because of its widespread appeal and poignant theme, it perfectly mirrors the essence of the new show. I believe it will continue to strike a chord with NBC’s viewers,” said Fletcher Foster, Sr. Vice President of Capitol Records in an article on angrycountry.com, The band released an album titled Dream Big this.
Ryan Shupe said he is optimistic about his band and their music. "I realized that our songs are a celebration of life. There are some sad songs, but you come away from them seeing the positive side. That's the spirit of the RubberBand."
