Dalai Lama makes plans for visit to Sun Valley

Nobel Peace prizewinner, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, plans to visit Sun Valley Sept. 11-14.

Sunday, Sept. 11, the Dalai Lama will deliver an address entitled “A Healing Address-A Message of Compassion on the Anniversary of 9/11.”

Monday, Sept. 12, at the special request of Governor Dirk Kempthorne, His Holiness will speak especially to the children of Idaho in a program entitled “Laying the Foundation of the Future.”

The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader and head of the state of Tibet. His Holiness was recognized at the age of 2 as the reincarnation of his predecessor, the 13th Dalai Lama. His Holiness fled Tibet to India in 1959 when Chinese troops attacked.

He has worked for a peaceful solution to Chinese occupation of Tibet. The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded His Holiness the 1989 Peace Prize for his efforts.
