Fishing in Southeast Idaho
As the summer heats up, there are a couple of words that will bring joy to the hearts of many: Go Fish!

Henry’s Lake – Located 15 miles west of Yellowstone National Park, Henry’s Lake can be considered a fisherman’s mecca. Filled with various species of trout, mainly Cutthroats, hybrids and Brook Trout, this lake accommodates both the family fishing activities and the sport fisherman.

Henry’s Fork – Some of the fishermen to fish this river included President Theodore Roosevelt and William Jennings Bryan. The best fishing action can be found in the 10 mile stretch between Island Park Dam and Osborne Bridge. This is catch-and-release fly-fishing only. Besides the opportunity to catch Rainbow Trout, the fisherman has the opportunity to soak up the sun in meadows of flowers and occasional wildlife.

South Fork of the Snake River – This 60 mile stretch of trout water starts at Palisades Dam and works its way down to meet the Henry’s Fork. Most trout pulled from these waters would make a fine meal.
