Snowboarding evolves to fastest growing winter sport
Darwin’s theory of evolution, where primitive things evolve into sophisticated structures, may not be too far off.

Especially where snowboarding is concerned.

Plank wood, clothesline and horse reins were all M.J. “Jack” Burchett needed in 1929 to construct one of the first snowboards. The clothesline and horse reins secured the plank to his feet as he cruised down the mountain, according to www.sbhistory.de.

It took 30 years and a little girl to take the next step with the invention.

In 1965 Sherman Poppen, a chemical gases engineer, bound two skis together as a toy for his daughter.
