McLean to perform twice for Mothers’ Weekend

Latter-day Saint songwriter and composer Michael McLean will give two concerts on Saturday at 3 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium.

McLean will be singing with his son Jeff McLean and recording artist Katie Thompson in a program called, “Hold On, the Light Will Come, and Other Lessons My Songs Have Taught Me.”

McLean’s songs that will be performed will include “You’re Not Alone,” “Celebrating the Light,” “A New Kind of Love Song,” “One Heart in the Right Place,” “You’ve Always Been There for Me” and selections from the “Forgotten Carols,” a musical Christmas program that has been touring annually for more than 10 years.

“I’m hoping to listen to the crowd and see what they need,” McLean said in a March 6 BYU-Idaho press release.

McLean has written several stage productions including the “Forgotten Carols” and “The Ark.”

McLean has also produced and directed many Latter-day Saint films such as “Mr. Kruger’s Christmas,” “Nora’s Christmas Wish” and “The Prodigal Son.”

Katie Thompson made her recording debut with her first album What I’ve Done Right, in summer 2002. She is a sought-after session singer in Los Angeles, according to the news release.

Jeff McLean released his first solo album in July 2000 by Shadow Mountain records,called Something’s Changed, according to the press release.

Both Thompson and Jeff McLean have performed in the “Forgotten Carols” with Michael.

Tickets can be obtained from the BYU-Idaho ticket office for $6 for bleacher seats and $8 for fold-out seats for the general public. Tickets are $1 for BYU-Idaho students.
