Fireworks Display
Worksheet
The following worksheet must be filled out and turned in to the BYU-Idaho Safety Office 24 hours prior to the date of the display. For Office Use
¨ Site plan drawing
o Dimensions of discharge site
o Spectator viewing area
o Parking area’s
o Debris fallout area
o Associated separation distances
¨ Radius of the display area must be 70’/1” of shell size
o No spectator viewing area’s within the display site
o No spectator parking within the display site
¨ Buildings within display area or fallout area
o Must be shown on site plan
o Must have fire watch on and around the building
o Must have prior approval of the building owner/BYU-Idaho Safety Office
¨ Display and Fallout area
o Must be properly marked (Do Not Cross Tape)
o Display area must be properly secured so as to allow no unauthorized personnel into the area
¨ Personnel
o Must have proper PPE
o Must be in place before Fireworks can begin
o Must have proper firefighting equipment
o Must have designated escape routes
¨ Ground fireworks must be a minimum of 75’ from spectator viewing area’s and parking area’s
¨ The trajectory of aerial shells must not come within 25’ of any overhead object
Figure A.3.2.3 illustrates some of the requirements for a permitted display site where mortars are placed vertically, such as might be the case for an electrically ignited display.
