BYU-Idaho student Miss Queen City of the Plains Nebraska Jaice Shakespaere is competing for Miss Nebraska in June of this year.

She competed in her first pageant when she was six-years-old and started competing with the Miss America Organization in 2013 when she graduated from high school in Emery, Utah.

"If you're thinking about participating in the Miss America Organization, I would say ‘do it,' because it has honestly been the best thing that I could ever do for myself," Shakespaere said. "I've been able to gain relationships, I've been able to learn life skills that I wouldn't have been able to learn anywhere else. If you're thinking about it, do it."

Shakespaere will compete June 7 - 10, in North Platte, Nebraska, for the Miss Nebraska 2017 title to move onto the Miss America competition.
