Advising / Create a Four Year Plan

There are many wonderful possibilities for your future. While you may be uncertain about what you want to study, or what you want to be, it is certain that a college degree will benefit you regardless of your career and academic choices. According to the Census Bureau, over an adult's working life, high school graduates earn an average of $1.2 million and bachelor's degree holders earn about $2.1 million.

The BYU–Idaho Career and Academic Advising Center is here to guide you as you make career and academic decisions for your future. Our services are available to both future students and current students. These services include career assessments, major exploration tools, career exploration tools, and class planning assistance.

We encourage you to prepare a comprehensive four-year plan for your BYU–Idaho education together with our help. With your plan in place, you’ll know what to register for each semester, be better able to manage your desired credit load, and are more likely to graduate on schedule.

We look forward to working with you as you begin your career and academic decision process. Please visit the Career and Academic Advising Website for more information.

Majors: BYU-Idaho has over 50 majors for you to choose from. A major is an academic subject chosen as your field of specialization. For a complete listing of our majors please see the BYU-Idaho 2008 Catalog. Also, it can be helpful to see which careers specific majors will qualify you for. This list can be found at the Major to Career web page.

Careers: While BYU-Idaho offers over 50 majors, the potential careers that can come from those majors is almost limitless. Some students begin college with a specific career in mind. However, they are not sure what major they need to graduate with in order to do that specific career when they graduate. If this is your situation, please visit the Career to Major web page.
