BYU-Idaho community advised of upcoming Idaho Falls airport closure
Brigham Young University-Idaho students, employees and their families should be aware that the Idaho Falls Airport will be closed for most commercial passenger traffic from September 2 to October 1, 2008 for runway repairs.
Alaska/Horizon Airlines has received permission to use smaller aircraft and will operate three non-stop flights to Boise each day from the cross runway in Idaho Falls. Passengers can check for connecting flights from Boise.
Delta Airlines will be adding extra flights into Pocatello. Those flights are already in Delta's system for reservations. It is not yet known what United and Northwest Airlines are planning to do to compensate for the closure.
Alternate airports in the region that passengers can consider are:
- Pocatello: 82 miles from Rexburg
- Salt Lake City: 244 miles from Rexburg
- Jackson, Wyoming: 105 miles from Rexburg
- Boise: 305 miles from Rexburg
- Twin Falls: 192 miles from Rexburg
