Director of Dance Alliance
Gary Larsen is a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer specializing in World and percussive dance forms. He holds a Masters Degree in Dance from UCLA and is currently completing a PhD in Ethnochoreology from the University of Limerick in Ireland. As a performer he has traveled to dozens of countries as both group member and soloist. He has taught and created choreography for workshops, performing groups and schools throughout the United States and in numerous other countries for over 20 years. As a faculty member in the department of Theater and Dance at BYU-Idaho, he oversees and/or teaches courses in clogging, tap, world dance, dance history, dance philosophy, humanities, choreography and performance. He is married with three children and operates a dance studio in Rexburg, Idaho teaching clogging, American period dance, hip-hop, jazz and children's creative dance.
Assistant Director of Dance Alliance
Rebekah Ensign has twirled across the nation studying, performing, and competing dance. One of her most memorable experiences was getting interviewed, reviewed, and sent to Vegas by judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, Adam Shankman from the Fox television show So You Think You Can Dance. Rebekah has taught and choreographed for studios, high schools, and Brigham Young University, Idaho and has learned the importance of sincerity through movement. She has received scholarships with Ballet West, Tremaine National Touring Group, and BYU, Idaho. Rebekah graduated from BYU, Idaho and now instructs jazz classes as adjunct faculty at the University. She is also the Assistant Director of BYU Idaho's Dance Alliance team, and is excited to tour with them this July. She continues to leap into every dance experience she can find with a constant desire to learn.
