Read the following information to your Speaking Partner:
When you explain how to do something or how to solve a problem, use words and expressions that show the time when each step is to be done. This is called “chronological order.” It is very important when learning math operations or programs such as Excel because there are steps that must be done before other steps. The following words are used often when explaining a process.
Practice saying the following numbers, years, and equations:
English pronunciation of the “r” sound
The “r” sound in English is a sound in which the mouth moves during pronunciation. Listen to your Speaking Partner say the following words. Then repeat the words.
Listen to your Speaking Partner say the following words when the “r” sound is not at the beginning of the word. Then repeat the words.
Do the following activity with your Speaking Partner.
List as many cities or countries as you can that have the “r” sound. Examples: New York, Ireland.
Choose a place you would like to visit. Use some of the following phrases with the “r” sound to tell why you want to visit that place. First say each phrase and make sure you understand the meaning.
