A University Studies degree offers students a flexible option for graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree.  The requirements for the University Studies degree are:

  • Completion of foundations courses
  • Completion of university requirements (see university catalog)
  • A minor and two clusters or two minors and one cluster
  • 15 credits must be upper division from BYU-Idaho (online or on campus)
  • 30 credits must be taken online through BYU-Idaho

What are the Classes Like?

BYU-Idaho's online courses mirror campus courses. Classes follow the same semester format and use the learning model. Students will have regular due dates for assignments and should expect to interact with their instructors and peers often.

How Long will this Program Take?

Our online degree program allows students the flexibility to finish their degree while balancing a busy life. Students can accelerate to graduation by taking classes all three semesters each year, or take a semester off when needed. Students must complete the program within eight years.

What will I Study?

Students may choose either two minors and one cluster, or two clusters and one minor.

Where do I Begin?

Students who meet the admission requirements can apply to be directly admitted into an online degree program. These students will start by taking GS111, a one credit online orientation course offered every block. This course prepares students to succeed online and charts a course to graduation. Pathway students who complete Academic Start do not need to take GS 111.
