RN to BSN Program
Designed for currently licensed Registered Nurses

COMMON QUESTIONS

Can I still apply if I don’t have my RN license, but am planning to get it before the semester starts?

No, unless you are an alumni that is applying to the program for the semester after graduation, you must have your RN license before turning in your application to the RN to BSN program.

Decisions will be sent out the 1st week of the month following the application deadline.

First, become a BYU-I student through the application process at besmart.com. Next, have a background check through Truscreen (coming soon). Finally, go to NursingCAS and complete the online application (see the Application page for more details).

NURS 327 has been replaced by NURS 340: Promoting Health and Wellness in the Aging Adult. NURS 327 or NURS 340 fulfill the requirements for graduation. If you have already taken NURS 327, you are not eligible for NURS 340.

A clinical placement request is not needed for NURS 340 as clinical hours will be fulfilled by a project

Your emphasis must be declared as “BSN”. This means that you have a current RN license. If you do not have an RN License, you will need to defer from the program until your license is obtained. If you do have your RN License, contact Nursing Outreach or email a copy of your license to nursingoutreach@byui.edu.

The ADVI hold has been placed on your account due to not having required immunization/ documentation (license, CPR card) turned in or for non-compliance (ie BSN plan). Until this is corrected, the hold will remain on the account. Contact nursingoutreach@byui.edu if you have any questions.

It is strongly suggested not to. However, if you do decide this would work best for you the hours must be completed in a different department in the hospital.

A white scrub top and blue scrub pants will be the Clinical Uniform for the RN-BSN student. No logo type shirts may be worn under the white scrub top. Lab coats are not required, but are optional. Shoes are to be Agency/BYU-Idaho Honor Code worthy (closed toe). If you are employed by the same agency that is used for clinical, you may not wear your work scrubs at the time you are in clinical as a RN-BSN student. Clinical scrubs are to be freshly laundered for each clinical shift.

You will have to contact the instructor for more of those details

To receive a name badge you must email a passport-like picture (plain background & from the shoulders up) to the Nursing Outreach Office at nursingoutreach@byui.edu. In the email, you must include an address for the badge to be sent.

You may email Nursing Outreach at: nursingoutreach@byui.edu, and verify that they have received it and that it has been approved.

Vertical Escrow Credits and the $30 fee will not appear on your transcripts until grades have been posted after graduation. It is strongly suggested to place $30 in your account and it will be taken out automatically

Try to search using only the number of the course code. ie. Leave everything blank and enter 316 (or whatever your course code is) in the course code search box

Yes. Going through our link to Truscreen is our way to verify the background check.
