The faculty of the Nursing Department recommends that students apply to several nursing schools. Due to the large number of applicants, admission to any nursing school is very competitive; consequently, all who are qualified cannot be admitted. Reviewing the ASN Admission Scorecard can assist in planning and anticipating potential competitive standing.
Every application is reviewed by one of the nursing faculty and the scorecard completed. Applications receive a final review, data are compiled, and applications ranked by scorecard totals.
The Nursing Selections Council meets for the final review of applications and the selection of candidates to fill the 42 openings (32 Traditional plus 10 Alternate) available each semester. All applicants receive written notification approximately three months after the application deadline. (See deadlines for more specific dates.)
