Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN): Application Process

Applicant Qualifications

At a minimum, all applicants to the RN to BSN program must meet the following qualifications to participate:

 

  • Have a cumulative grade point average 3.0 or higher (Includes all college course work!).
  • Be a graduate of a Professional Nursing/Registered Nurse Program.*
  • Have a R.N. Licensure within USA is required before taking any B.S.N. level clinical nursing courses. 

 

*BYU-Idaho may not accept transfer credits from non-accredited institutions and programs.

 

Selection Priority

Although not guaranteed, the Nursing Department strives to admit about 60 applicants each semester. In line with the university's mission, applicants are admitted in the following priority:

 

  1. Ricks College/BYU-Idaho ASN graduates
  2. ASN graduates from other Colleges or Universities

 

Please note the majority of applicants admitted are Ricks/BYU-Idaho alumni. Admittance of other applicants is limited.

 

Complete Applications

Only complete applications are considered for selection. When applying, applicants must also submit college transcripts to both the BYU-Idaho Admissions office and the Nursing Department. Two separate applications are required:

 

  1. The BSN application and background checks for both 20 years of age or younger and 21 years of age or older.
  2. The BYU-Idaho traditional or non-traditional (online) student application

 

If you are planning on obtaining your BSN degree online through Continuing Education you need to follow the above link to apply as a non-traditional (online) student or contact the Admissions office to learn more about this application.
