Students in the RN to BSN Program who follow a specific completion plan attain their degree in the least amount of time. In order to provide flexibility, the plan is divided into Nursing cohorts and Baccalaureate Degree requirements as follows:

Option to change sequence of nursing classes:
Only by petition can changes be considered. Once admitted to the program, students must adhere to their assigned sequence. Regardless of reason, interrupting your assigned sequence without an approved petition could result in delayed graduation or even dismissal from the program.
BYU-Idaho General Education / Foundation Baccalaureate requirements
In addition to the above BSN core courses, students are also required to complete General Education/Foundation courses. On the BSN application, applicants determine the completion sequence of these courses by filling out the Baccalaureate Degree Completion Plan (BDCP).
The following conditions may affect the required course work and BDCP:
- The BYU-I catalog year used for requirements
- The total number of official credits listed on your transcripts
- The total number of BYU-Idaho General Education/Foundation course requirements completed
- The current articulation agreements between BYU-Idaho and other academic institutions
Please refer to the catalog for an accurate explanation of University requirements.
Baccalaureate Degree Completion Plan Courses (for General Education / Foundations Requirements):
These are minimum General Education / Foundation requirements and will vary depending on:
- The academic catalog year listed on your Graduation Report
- Whether you are a transfer student or not
For clarification specific to university requirements, please consult with the Health Professions Advising office (208-496-2448).

*Depending on the above conditions, additional courses may be required.
Once admitted, students are expected to follow their Nursing Course sequence, but the schedule of the General Education / Foundations courses can vary as needed without a petition. Depending on your admission status, failure to enroll and complete a credit course through BYU-Idaho during any given semester can be considered as discontinuing your attendance and you will lose your continuing student status with the University unless you apply for and are granted deferral status; and are considered withdrawn from the BSN program. If you lose your continuing student status, you must apply for readmission.
Can I change the order of the nursing classes?
Once admitted to the program, students must adhere to their assigned sequence. Regardless of reason, interrupting either sequence could result in delayed graduation or even dismissal from the program. Only by petition will changes be considered.
How do I check my progress toward graduation?
The best way to check your progress toward graduation is through the online Graduation Report. This report compares your current transcripts to both the University's major and General Education / Foundations requirements. Just as you did on the BDCP, you can actually plan ahead when to complete your remaining courses and save it for future reference.
If you disagree with or do not understand this report, contact the Academic Advising Office at (208) 496-2438 to resolve any issues.
*Completing Statistics Or FDMAT 108 before enrolling in N338: Nursing Research is highly recommended .
