Associate of Science in Nursing: Alternate Track Program

The Alternate Track is for students that have over 48 college credits. BYU-Idaho's Track System Restrictions do not apply to the Alternate Track. Classes are held during the day time with the traditional track students and clinical and lab hours varying from weekday evenings to Saturdays. The Alternate Track is another option for the student to obtain their Associate of Science in Nursing degree. The application process for the Alternate track is the same as the traditional track.
ALL Foundation / general education course work must be completed before starting the nursing program. For a list of all the general education classes see the "Sample Completion Plan."
Registering for Alternate ASN Nursing Courses
Starting with the Spring 2010 semester, alternate ASN students are responsible for registering for their nursing courses each semester. To register for alternate nursing courses, log-in through the BYU-Idaho home page MY.BYUI.EDU button, click on the "Student" tab, scroll down and click on the "Add/Drop Courses" icon and register for the appropriate section. Be sure to follow the sequence outlined in the Advising Sheet or Sample Completion Plan. The courses you need to enroll in as an alternate ASN student are those with a Course Code ending in "-02" which will have a Sub Program of "CTED" and Method of "Lecture" or "Lab."
If you have trouble registering for your ASN courses, contact the Continuing Education staff at (208) 496-2305 or the Student Records and Registration office at (208) 496-1001 for assistance.
For questions about the alternate track contact the Agriculture and Life Science Advising Center at (208) 496-2438.
