REXBURG, Idaho— Master performer and YouTube sensation Alex Boyé will sweep you to your feet on June 8 starting at 7:30 P.M. in Brigham Young University-Idaho’s Center Stage performance arts series. Widely recognized for his unique talent at fusing pop and gospel music with motivating and uplifting African rhythms and beats, Alex Boyé will perform at BYU-Idaho’s Hart Auditorium, with the hope to empower and uplift all those who come and see his show, for it to be not only a concert, but an enriching experience.
Alex Boyé’s music career started in 1995 as the lead singer of the European Band Awesome. After awesome opportunities to perform alongside MC Hammer and Bryan Adams (among others), in 1999 Boyé pursued a solo career, which led him to get involved with gospel music with refreshing pop/R&B beats. After teaming up with The Piano Guys for an Africanized version of Coldplay’s “Paradise”, renamed “Peponi”, not only did he became a YouTube hit, but he found out people would respond very well to rhythms from his ancestral continent, which has become a key characteristic in his music.
Boyé is well recognized as an artist who pours his heart in every single note he hits. With almost one billion views on his YouTube channel, people can recognize that particular side of his music in every song and performance. Also sharing stage with worldwide artists like Jay-Z, Justin Timerlake, and The Beach Boys, Boyé has left his mark in the world being himself and embracing what makes him different.
