Center Stage announces winter Performing Arts Series

The Center Stage Performing Arts Series at Brigham Young University-Idaho has announced its winter programs-and they're ones you're not going to want to miss.

 

• Jan. 9: Brooke White
Singer and songwriter Brooke White placed fifth in the seventh season of American Idol.

 

• Jan. 15-16: Ryan Hamilton
Named as one of Rolling Stone magazine's "Top Five Comics to Watch" in 2008, Hamilton now lives in New York City where he entertains audiences with his clean brand of humor.

 

• Jan. 22-23: FRED
One of the world's top comedy barbershop quartets will headline this year's Barbershop Music Festival.

 

• Jan. 30: Sound Alliance with Kristin Korb
Internationally renowned vocalist and bassist Kristin Korb will perform with BYU-Idaho's Sound Alliance jazz ensemble.

 

• Feb. 6: Peking Acrobats
Carefully selected from the finest acrobat schools in China, this group of gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists and tumblers has toured the world since 1958.

 

• Feb. 11-12: BYU-Idaho Symphony Orchestra
Under the director of Robert Tueller, the BYU-Idaho Symphony Orchestra will perform Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini in A minor Opus 43, featuring pianist Stephen Beus.

 

• Feb. 19: John Philip Sousa Night featuring Larry Zalkind and the BYU-Idaho Symphony Band

The BYU-Idaho Symphony Band will present its sixth annual Sousa Concert, featuring special guest Larry Zalkind, a trombonist with the Utah Symphony and Los Angeles Philharmonic.

 

• March 20: BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble
The International Folk Dance Ensemble from BYU will present a program of music and dance from North America, Western and Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
