Pittsburgh bassoonist to perform with BYU-Idaho Sinfonietta

Bassoonist David Sogg will join the Brigham Young University-Idaho Sinfonietta orchestra for a concert Friday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall.

Sogg joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as co-principal bassoon in 1989. Raised in San Jose, Calif., he started his bassoon studies with Jerry Dagg of the San Francisco Opera. A graduate of Harvard College with a major in German literature, he studied with the Boston Symphony's Sherman Walt, then with Günter Piesk of the Berlin Philharmonic, and finally with Norman Herzberg to receive a master of music from the University of Southern California.

While in Rexburg, Sogg will conduct a residency for music students.
