Brigham Young University-Idaho has announced a 2.44 percent tuition increase for the 2010-2011 school year, reflecting the ongoing increase in costs to the university.

"BYU-Idaho is mindful about keeping education affordable," said budget officer Larry Rigby. "The tuition rate reflects the support and priority The Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives to learning."

During the 2009-2010 school year, Latter-day Saint students paid $1,640. Tuition will increase to $1,680, beginning Fall Semester 2010.

"The increase is modest, particularly compared to other institutions in the region," Rigby said. "It is still a good, affordable rate. We recognize the tight budgets of students and hope they will be able to plan their finances according to this change."
